If you want to boost self-confidence you have to learn that it has as much to do with attitude aside from ability.

I've known many people who, while they lacked aptitude in a particular area, absolutely 'oozed' confidence! I'm not speaking about bragging about how superior they are at tennis, or singing, or public speaking - when actually they're not. I'm speaking about feeling okay about not being skilled in these fields and doing them anyway!

A few things are just not necessary enough to fret about - however we do just the same and generate unnecessary stress for ourselves. Regardless of whether you fall over attempting to ice-skate, make a hash of cooking, be unsuccessful at DIY or just worry that you may not be good at using a PC in case you tried it, so you don't - does it actually matter?

Of course there are some things that are necessary! Being excellent at your occupation is one of them; creating good relationships is another. In these cases you must find certain methods to help you.

What building selfconfidence boils down to is removing that voice within your brain that tells you that you'll not succeed if you try, that you're no good at this kind of thing, that you're going to make a fool of yourself - or whatever the specific message is that rocks your confidence.

Those messages don't really tell the truth:

They might have been told to you, previously, by other people who had their own agenda. Every so often people would say things to put you down so they would feel better about themselves!

They could have been your interpretation of what somebody said. Usually what we hear isn't what is meant, so when I say "You're not very good at sporting activities", you might hear that as a criticism or somebody saying "You're a failure!"

They may be based on a unique experience you had that caused you to write that message within your head yourself. Let's say you tried designing a bookcase once however it didn't look very good once you finished it. Therefore, in your mind you believe you're no good at woodwork and can never try again. However you could have acknowledged that this wasn't too bad for your first try and that you'd most likely get better with experience.

Your own attitude is the thing that will carry you to triumph, or defeat you before you even start.

When you don't believe you are able to do it - odds are extremely high that you won't. And when you believe all the unfavorable messages from the past, you might as well put up a brick wall between you and your objectives. (And don't forget, you fail 100% of the opportunities you do not even go for!)

However when you believe you could do it, if you can imagine yourself in your mind doing it, odds are really strong that you will succeed!

There's a saying: "Change the way in which you look at things and the things you look at would change." (The half full - half empty glass is an instance of this!)

However you don't have to do this on your own, and confidence coaching would enable you to to find other ways of looking at things. Then the coach can help you to determine your destructive beliefs and destroy those brick walls that stand between you and your goals. Increasing your confidence will really help you to realize what you want from life.
